About the event
The Rock's to Manly run is an iconic Sydney trail run. Crossing the Harbour Bridge and hugging the harbour shore line to Manly.
For much of the run you wouldn't know you were in the middle of a city until you pop out at a beach with views accross the harbour to the Opera House, Kirribilli House or Taronga Zoo. The run passes through a few National Parks and several Harbour Foreshore Heritage Parks as well as Balmoral Beach, The Spit and Fairlight Beach before reaching Manly.
At Manly we can cool off with a swim and regroup. Grab a bite to eat and maybe a beer before jumping a ferry back to the Rocks.
What you will need to bring:
- There is plenty of water along the way but it is a good idea to bring a hydration pack
- Money to buy drinks along the way and food as well as the ferry ticket back
- It can get quite cold on the ferry, especially after a big run. A warm jacket or similar is a good idea.
- Sunscreen, hat, the usual, etc
The run will take about 3hrs give or take. The plan is to run together regrouping as necessary. After the Spit the trail is well signed so some runners may like to push on. All runners are welcome as long as you think you can make 25km with regular, but short stops.
A note on the meeting place
We are meeting at the south pilon of the Harbour Bridge at the bike path entry. It is the cnr of Watson Rd and Upper Fort Street at the outdoor gym. All day or 4hr parking is available nearby (although I havent checked this fo several years). Suggest train, bike or carpool. We should aim to leave no later than 7.15am.
